Slow Burning???

#1 Post by Jocke »

When i try to burn a dvd iso in k3b. It reaches a maximum speed of 2X. I have a Nec DVD_RW 3520A 6X speed. It´s very annoying.

Thx

If the media says it will work at a particular speed, that really doesn't mean anything, it has to be supported by your burner or it will probably burn at a lower speed (and might not give you a working copy) http://www.sw.nec.co.jp/products/optica ... t_304.html
What could help you is flashing your unit to a newer firmware, flasher: http://binflash.cdfreaks.com/#drivelist (scroll up a bit to get to the download, nec is one of the few that can be flashed under linux), firmware (only use the official nec unless you really know what you're doing): http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/3520/ But most likely you'll have to get new media if you want higher speed.
Other than this it could be that you messed with the k3b settings (try another program) or don't have dma working on your hd and/or drive but that would be noticed in other ways, you can check with dmesg if you belive this to be the case.
