requirements to play video

#1 Post by rodda »

I'm working to create a package installation script for use with the new Debian 'testing' installer. Everything seems to work well except for video playback using xine, ogle, totem, gstreamer....or anything else. When I try to play a video file such as mpg, these apps all crash the X server immediately.

Obviously, I'm missing something major here! What does X require for video playback? Any help would be appreciated.

Post the log file of xine here.
Maybe it can help us find the problem.

Normaly it would be somewhere in the /var/log/.. directory.
