upgrade to testing broke ALSA and KWM

#1 Post by erroneous »

I was running stable, changed my repositories to testing, used synaptic to mark all upgrades and apply, and installed k3b 0.12.7 from source, and then rebooted.

Now alsa no longer works, and for some reason it switched over to enlightenment instead of KDE's window manager. As for alsa, kmix lets me change the device to my audigy zs 2, but alsamixergui doesn't.

I tried downgrading, but the instructions I found for it said to add

Code: Select all

        Package: *
        Pin: release a=stable
        Pin-Priority: 1001

        Package: *
        Pin: release a=testing
        Pin-Priority: 60

        Package: *
        Pin: release a=unstable
        Pin-Priority: 50
to /etc/apt/preferences, however it gives me the following error:

Code: Select all

E: Invalid record in the preferences file, no Package header
Any ideas for either getting downgrading to work, or just getting testing to work?
