I'm using sarge/ XFree86 4.3.0.1, and my mouse pointer is really awful. I think there must be something wrong with the hardware cursor (silken mouse?). For example, dragging a window title bar will often get interpreted as a double click part way through the drag and maximise the window. I have similar problems when click-dragging to highlight text in FireFox, resizing windows, and using menus.
I'm not using gpm, so it isn't interference with that. I think the driver is broken. I can't see any errors in my XFree86 log.
Is there a known bug with the Matrox driver in XFree86? I can't find anything.
