Won't install X Window or KDE

#1 Post by Mexican_Pirate »

I used the apt-get install feature to download and install X Window and KDe, and then it went through all the motions, but when I typed "startx", you know what happened? Absolutely nothing. Here I was, thinking I'd have a nice Linux desktop running by now, and I still have to use windows. This is really getting on my nerves. I don't know what's going on. Would it help if I mentioned that the computer I'm trying to install on is a Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop with a Celeron processor and Intel Integrated audio and video?
Arr, ese!

After you type startx, could you write down the error messages that you see and post them here? They will start with EE or WW, and will be clues as to what is wrong with your configuration.

startx: command not found
And it took so long to "install" too...

Which version of debian are you using--stable, testing, or unstable? Did you install Xfree or xorg?

I'm using the stable one, and right now, for some reason, X-Window popped out of nowhere and is working.
