gdm xdmcp gdmchooser / gdmlogin wrong version

#1 Post by slackware-is-dying! »

Hi,
I have gnome setup on sarge and it works fine locally, however when I try to login remotely over xdmcp the chooser or login doesn't start. If I run gdmchooser or gdmlogin manually it says the daemon version doesn't match the chooser version (2.6.0.8). gdmchooser and gdmlogin are both 2.6.0.8, output of gdm --version yields "GDM 2.6.0.8". Why are the versions not matching, they are installed from the same package from the debian official sarge repository.

If I do:

export DOING_GDM_DEVELOPMENT=yes
/usr/bin/gdmlogin

it runs fine, but because it is not started by gdm it doesn't send the password to gdm properly. I had a quick google search and can't find anything about this.

Any help at all appreciated

TIA.

Ben.
