PS/2 Mouse frozen under X Server

#1 Post by EssE »

Hi,

After upgrading to Debian 3.01 my mouse doesn't work anymore in X.
It is frozen, means that the server doesn't recognize any input. I also
don't use the AllowMouseOpenFail option but the server starts still. So
obviously it doesn't recognize that there's something wrong with my
mouse.

I also had a look on my log files (/var/log/) . I couldn't find any
meaninful entries. During
boot every time I get a pciehp module start failure. I don't know if
this is
related to my problem.

In /proc/misc proc/interrupts there are also entries for PS/2.

Furthermore I tested the functionality of my mouse. It works fine under
Windows.

Perhaps the problem is a little bit deeper inside the system?

Thanks for helping!
Mathias

What is the type of the mouse?

How about editing this?

Code: Select all

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "PS/2 Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
# Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
Option "Emulate3Timeout" "70"
Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
EndSection

to

Code: Select all

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Configured Mouse"
        Driver "mouse"
        Option "CorePointer"
        Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"

Also remember this in your future posts.

If you have a problem with your mouse, then only specify the contents of the file, which are relevant to your mouse. The other stuff is absolutely not needed.

Notice here, that your post has changed the entire format of this thread, making it look funny! 8)

Hope you got my point.

Good Luck.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I'll do it better next time.

My mouse is of Type PS/2. I'll try your settings and report what happened.

Thanks
Mathias

Yes. I know your mouse is PS/2. But if it is a scroll mouse, then the ExplorerPS/2 protocol should make it work.

Report back with the results. :)
