Debian menu?

#1 Post by kryptos »

Whenever I install a package using apt-get it will be present in the "Debian-menu". But I just removed firefox 0.9.3 (with dpkg -r mozilla-firefox) and compiled Firefox 1.0, but now it isn't in the menu's anymore and I have to start it using the console. So I guess there is somewhere on my system a file which is used by Gnome, KDE, Blackbox, Ion2 to display the "Debian menu".

There is a detailed desciption of the menu files and the format of those files in /usr/share/doc/menu/html (provided the 'menu' package installed, which is probably the case).
See also the update-menus(1) and the menufile(5) manpages.
