Hi,
I'm new to debian and use sarge.
Every time I want to start vlc it comes to an error.
The very first error starting vlc, e.g. directly afert booting the system is the following:
VLC media player 0.8.2-svn Janus
Gtk-ERROR **: file gtksignal.c: line 262 (gtk_signal_init): assertion failed: (z ero == NULL)
aborting...
Abgebrochen
The second and all errors from now on are these:
GLib-WARNING **: g_main_iterate(): main loop already active in another thread
What could be the reason for this behaviour?
Any help is welcome, thanks

Error starting VLC
I have seen a lot of problems with the VLC in sarge, I would recomend reinstalling it from the developer's repository:
deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sarge main
deb-src http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sarge main
this repo also maintains the dvd codecs libdvdcss
