Are you sure that it's actually a lack of anti-aliasing, and not just bad-looking fonts? Is your screen DPI correct?

Ok i fixed it by going
Code: Select all
dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config

and selecting to disable bitmapped fonts. If you need bitmapped fonts, though, you can instead edit ~/.fonts.config to say:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd">

<fontconfig>

<!-- Helvetica is a non true type font, and will look bad. This replaces it with whatever is the default sans-serif font -->
 <match target="pattern" name="family" >
  <test name="family" qual="any" >
   <string>Helvetica</string>
  </test>
  <edit mode="assign" name="family" >
   <string>sans-serif</string>
  </edit>
 </match>

</fontconfig>

which solves the iceweasel problem, which was that Helvetica was being used. Now, I solved the QT problem by changing the font to be used in the GUI from sand-serif to another sans serif font.
