[Solved]HomeWorld2 at Lenny with wine-1.0.1-174-gc4039bd

#1 Post by nikobit »

I stick to stable release to avoid any unforseen troubles. So upon installation of HomeWorld2 at my system with a great surprise everything worked our from the beginning. Well. almost everything. Game is running but game interface and menu is missing any font. Seems like some Windows system font is required for complete run. How to solve it?

I would suggest several things. First install wine from wine`s repository. To do so read these instructions - http://www.winehq.org/download/deblenny . To get the windows fonts enable the non-free and contrib repositories for debian and install the package msttcorefonts. If you still can`t see no text in the game you can try using winetricks to install the MS corefonts for wine - to do so follow these instructions - http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks.

So far get stuck at the point where I should install the package msttcorefonts. That is done. But what to do with it?

Code: Select all

nikobit:/home/nikobit# msttcorefonts
bash: msttcorefonts: command not found
nikobit:/home/nikobit# ttf-mscorefonts-installer
bash: ttf-mscorefonts-installer: command not found
What's next?

At last! I've 'apt-get remove wine' including all bounded dependencies. Reinstalled 'wine' as above mentioned. Well, it turns out nothing else is required. Game just runs. Though with 2-3 FPS only. Thanks to your help!
