Scheduled Maintenance: We are aware of an issue with Google, AOL, and Yahoo services as email providers which are blocking new registrations. We are trying to fix the issue and we have several internal and external support tickets in process to resolve the issue. Please see: viewtopic.php?t=158230
I can also confirm the newest NVidia drivers fix the issue.
For every one person that posts a success reply, there are probably 100 that don't. Thank you, everyone, for working this out so people like me can just follow some directions and get it fixed. I upgraded my Testing dist. today and it pulled down Gnome3 (unbeknownst to me, I didn't look at the upgraded packages!) but have been waiting for this for a LONG time (Gnome3 was actually why I switched from stable to testing).. Now I have it, and graphics that work perfectly. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
hellfire[bg] wrote:Yes it seems to work fine. I'm using the 64 bit flash player, downloaded from Adobe's website.
just updated flashplugin-nonfree and 11_1_102_55 (11.1 r102) plays video ok but still crashes when you go fullscreen, in fact it crashes a lot even when not in fullscreen it seems! back to 10.3
if you remove the debian packaged nvidia stuff and install the 290.6 beta from nvidia as a .run file, it fixes flash11
its broken again - just updated to xserver-xorg-core 2:1.11.1.902-1 and now gnome3 will only start in fallback mode (fixed it by re-running the nvidia installer).
oh and flash 11_2_202_19 is broken, 11_1_102_55 works ok.

I can verify that the flashplayer 11.1 r102 works just fine with Nvidia 290.06 driver and the xserver-*=2:1.11.1.902-1. I have full screen, sound and good video with this version of flash.
Fixed at last, at last it's fixed. Fingers crossed.

well not really fixed - as the newer version (11.2) breaks it again!
plus 290.06 is nowhere near wheezy, i can't even get it to install from sid as there's broken dependencies; so the only way is to use the nvidia installer which you need to re-run every time a new xserver or kernel comes down.
i'm thinking of just leaving off doing any updates until nvidia 290.06 and gnome 3.2 get into wheezy and flash 11.2 comes out of beta and xserver stabilises, and gdm3 works properly and...... i left fedora15 to get away from this lol, starting to think of trying f16 now.

There is always Debian Stable. I use Stable most of the time but just love the challenge of Sid. So if you want something that just works with no fuss or muss then Squeeze is for you but if you like to fiddle then testing and unstable is the place to be but please do expect disruptions.

yes i've got another box that is running squeeze+backports and its probably the way i should go for my main machine too, i just don't want to rebuild it really.
