Laptop Font Woes

#1 Post by sprucio »

I have a laptop I'm using with Debian testing. Although it runs great, I am experiencing a problem with fonts and how it looks.

Currently, I have anti-aliased fonts enabled. For some reason, the colors look very odd as if sub-pixel hinting is enabled. Unlike a CRT monitor, each letter is not solid black but they seem to be rather a mixture of black with a slight bit of red.

Has anyone else had this experience? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm...sounds like what I saw when I tried out the bitmap fonts...waste of time it was....
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Problem was fixed by creating links in /etc/fonts/conf.d directory. Basically, Debian has modualrized the options into individual files. All that is necessary is to create a new file that prefixes with two numbers.

I create a link(soft) for the no-subpixel and everything was fine after that.
