KDE instead of GNOME

#1 Post by michael7 »

I'm new to Debian and I have just completed a "netinst". GNOME appears to be the default desktop, however, I prefer KDE. How do I change the default desktop to KDE?

michael7, at the log in box where you enter your username and password, click on the tab named menu and select session type then kde.

future logins will run the previously run desktop by default, also should you later download other desktops e.g. fluxbox, xfce, icewm then again you would start them from there

hope this helps

Thanks, hippy. Good instructions. I'm typing this from my KDE desktop. That other distro that we use doesn't have that session menu at startup.
