Hi
I was wanting to get my usb card reader going. So that when I plug it in an icon appears on the desktop. I've had distro's that do this, eg ubuntu
At this stage I've got HAL and pmount installed, and my desktop is KDE.
It would appear that the card is recoginised in the dmesg and the correct kernel modules installed.
Thanks for any hints Scott

"A better way to autostart gnome-volume-manager and gnome-settings-daemon in KDE is to symlink the executables from /usr/bin to ~.kde/Autostart.
Do this by dragging and dropping within Konqueror and choosing "link"."
And it worked!
