AMD64

#1 Post by Swordmaster »

I'm thinking of buying a AMD64 cpu
Can I use its full capacity with debian?
In other words: Do I have to download an other Debian version when I buy have the 64 bit CPU?

I would like to know this as well, can I install a native 64bit debian system? I will be getting an athlon 64 system for christmas and would liek to install debian on it. Is this possible, is there an "unstable 64bit" version available? Thanks

That page appears woefully out of date (it was written at a time when there was still no autobuilder for that architecture, for example).

Anyone interested in the amd64 port should check out the Debian GNU/Linux AMD64 HOWTO.
