Logitech F710 lag or system failure?

Hi folks,

I have a Logitech F710 gamepad. My system is running Debian 8.

Testing this gamepad with jstest-gtk. I can see my input, but every ten seconds or so all input will simply freeze.

I know it's not the gamepad, because I tested on my laptop which is running Ubuntu 15.10 and I get no such lag.

I also tested it on my friend's Debian 8 system and same thing, no lag.

So how do I narrow down what's wrong with my system? Any other real time processes I can test on my system to see if it's a hardware malfunction? I have noticed lag/freezes in games sometimes also, independent of the gamepad.
