Canon pixma mg 5750 how to use scanner

#1 Post by vydla »

Hi, I have canon pixma mg 5750 connect through usb and I cant make scans. My system is debian Jessie KDE, i installed skanlite and it wouldnt find my scanner. When I use sane-scan-finder it finds me this:
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x178e [MG5700 series]) at libusb:002:003

# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.

# Not checking for parallel port scanners.

# Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
# can't be detected by this program.
I dont know what to do next please if you know what to do help. I cant find any more help on google. By the way my CUPS dont show me so many options and settings like it was when I had canon pixma mg 5650. Things like contrast and brightnes and saturation and etc. in default settings, I can adjust only paper format and type of paper. thanks in advance.

Did you search for the pixma mg 5650 driver at the Canon website? You should have found it easily enough, since it's clearly labeled ScanGear for your scanner.
ScanGear MP Ver. 3.00 for Linux (debian Packagearchive)
http://www.canon-europe.com/support/con ... 832-bit%29
Select your operating system (Linux, either 32 bit or 64 bit, whichever you have installed), select your preferred language, then click on the name of the driver to go to the download page.

Go ask google before you ask on these boards.

It it isn't broken, Tweak It !!!

I have mg 5750 model now not mg 5650. I had used mg5650 but it broke. That scangear I have allready installed. Even driver I have installed, but when I type scanimage -L it says:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation

which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
and sane-find-scanner finds this:

# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
