Problems opening a VeraCrypt containter on my external HDD

#1 Post by Destin Faroda »

Hello,

Hardware: WD MyBook USB 3.0 8TB with 4k sectors and BTRFS
OS: Debian 9 Testing
VeraCrypt Containter: 2 encryption methods, Streebog hash, EXT4 (BTRFS wasn't available)

Yesterday, while I was putting a lot of backup files into my VeraCrypt container on my new external HDD, it suddenly denied me further operations. All files on the HDD showed a small lock symbol. Baffled, I closed VeraCrypt and tried restarting it. However, now it presents a strange error whenever I try to open the VeraCrypt container:
mount: /dev/mapper/veracrypt1: can't read superblock

Why is it doing this to me? Can it be fixed?
I'm really desperate as it contains some big files that would be difficult to reacquire with my slow internet connection.
