RT2860 WiFi card

I have installed Debian on a device with a Ralink RT2860 WiFi card. I installed the firmware-misc-nonfree package. However, no wireless interface is shown. How can I fix this?

Have you rebooted?

Even though the firmware was installed, you still need to set up your network. Network setup is dependent on the other software installed. Gnome/KDE have their own network managers. Alot of people like WiCD which also has several install options: command line, gtk, ncurses, python.

I usually start with hard coded settings in /etc/network/interfaces as described here..
If my computer is going to stay put, I chmod 0600 /etc/network/interfaces. It it it a mobile device not running Gnome/KDE, I will install wicd-gtk and set that up in my systemtray.

The WiFi HowToUse link also tells you about all the different setup options.
