Asus ROG GL753VE and fan control

#1 Post by reefcrazed »

I am running Debian 9 Stretch and love it so far. I have the majority of my things working now on the laptop, including the Nvidia video card. My only issue is now the fan is not detected, it is showing a speed of -1 and Debian seems to just run the fan full speed.

pwmconfig

Code: Select all

Found the following devices:
   hwmon0 is acpitz
   hwmon1 is coretemp
   hwmon2 is asus

Found the following PWM controls:
   hwmon2/pwm1 current value: 0

Giving the fans some time to reach full speed...
Found the following fan sensors:
   hwmon2/fan1_input current speed: 0 ... skipping!

Code: Select all

root@debian:/etc# sensors
asus-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
cpu_fan: -1 RPM

acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +38.0°C (crit = +98.0°C)

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Physical id 0: +37.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 0: +36.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 1: +36.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 2: +36.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 3: +36.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Psensor also shows the fan speed at 0.

Is there any hope here? The fan is loud and I am afraid it will wear out way quicker running full blast.
