Proprietary AMD driver support for Debian Stretch
Proprietary AMD driver support for Debian Stretch
Hi people, is there any OpenGL 4 support in Debian Stretch if I use the package firmware-amd-graphics? The opensource driver have for the Radeon HD 6000 series only support up to OpenGL 3.3.

Does the open-source amdgpu driver support your hardware?
https://packages.debian.org/stretch/xse ... deo-amdgpu
I think that offers a newer OpenGL version but I could be wrong.
EDIT: or perhaps try removing all of the xserver-xorg-video-* packages and fall back to the X server's built-in modesetting driver instead.

Re: Proprietary AMD driver support for Debian Stretch
According to https://www.x.org/wiki/RadeonFeature/ my Radeon HD 6850 (Northern Islands) is not supported by amdgpu. Only the radeon kernel driver. A note of the table https://www.x.org/wiki/RadeonFeature/#note_19 said that
And my Radeon HD6850 has a Barts GPU. No luck for me.OpenGL 4.1 is currently only supported on CYPRESS, CAYMAN and ARUBA. All other chips are currently limited to OpenGL 3.3
