Realtek sound driver

#1 Post by Wheelerof4te »

I have a Realtek sound card, but Debian 9 (or any Linux that I tried, for that matter) uses intel's driver for audio:

Code: Select all

inxi -A
Audio: Card-1 Intel Wildcat Point-LP High Definition Audio Controller
           driver: snd_hda_intel
           Card-2 Intel Broadwell-U Audio Controller driver: snd_hda_intel
Sound: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture v: k4.9.0-6-amd64
As you can see, alsa is using internal Intel speakers instead of Realtek HD audio. I know that I have Realtek card snce Windows 10 used it and the sound was clearly coming from the rear of the laptop. Now it's coming from the front and it's way lower volume than in Windows.
Does Realtek provide stable audio alsa drivers for it's cards? I've searched for them but all I've come up with are shaddy blog posts.

I'm not a music guru, but louder sound would be great.
EDIT: I see it's ALC3227 card, if I read that correctly. Graphics cards are Intel and Radeon R5 330m.
More info:

Code: Select all

aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****

Re: Realtek sound driver

I have found this, someone filed it as a bug on Ubuntu:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1737614
Same here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/955800/ ... 2tu-laptop

Poster has the same problem as me. The sound on head/earphones is acceptable and loud enough. Speakers are the problem.
EDIT: Sadly, the problem might be alsa-driver related:
