I am on testing, lost sound after the latest dist-upgrade.
Volume control are at the max to no avail.

if this is the best problem description you can provide, you shouldn't be using debian testing.
please install Linux Mint.

Maybe something was wrong with one of the packages in the "testing" repos, some times Debian testing is like that, I guess they are still testing some things.

This hapened before with the previous apgrade and I solved with pavucontrol, this time as well, it starts with sound muted for some unknown reason.

It could be the KDE desktop I'm using, it starts muted, known issue.
