Hello everyone,
I recently installed Debian 9.4 Gnome on a thinkpad t460 and I am having this error message each time I boot up:

For the installation I used the unofficial netinstall iso (with non-free firmwares). The installation was in UEFI mode.
I looked at this web page https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1704799 but unfortunately the links are dead...
I also tried https://stackoverflow.com/questions/413 ... ad-iwlwifi
and finally https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/use ... rs/iwlwifi
I had problems with 8000C-16 -> 22, but since I could download the .ucode files and place them in /lib/firmware, It solved part of the problem.
What can I do?
EDIT : The wifi works correctly but I still get these errors.
EDIT 2 : direct link to the picture.

[SOLVED] "failed to load iwlwifi-8000C"
Re: "failed to load iwlwifi-8000C"
I don't see images, so I don;t see the error msg, and I don't know which ver you need of the file? Looks like there's a stretch ver that has 21 and 22, and a newer ver in stretch backports that also has 27 and 30.f.r3d wrote: ...I recently installed Debian 9.4 Gnome on a thinkpad t460 and I am having this error message each time I boot up:

Yeah from what I understand the device/driver starts looking and loads the first one it finds? I probably wouldn't worry about it.f.r3d wrote: ...The wifi works correctly but I still get these errors.

Similar questions have been asked about non-fatal Intel firmware messages before; the consensus is that the missing ones are Intel development firmware versions that were never released, and that the driver is just going down a list until it finds one that is acceptable.

OK, so is there any way to make these "fake" error messages disappear?

Barring the use of electrical tape to cover parts of your screen, the only workaround that I can think of is a boot screen such as Plymouth to hide the messages.
I suppose if you knew how to, you could modify the driver code to hide the messages and rebuild the driver, but I have no idea how to handle that.
