[Solved] Stretch: Suspend kills volume control

#1 Post by Dobeedoo »

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right category, so please tell me if wrong.

After reinstalling (from scratch) my laptop into Stretch (9.4), my keyboard volume controls stop working after resume from suspend. This is really annoying. How can I start investigating the cause?

I have of course googled, but as not found any relevant solutions that works. Please help me start digging

No, I did not have non-free enabled in sources. Would it do any good in this case?

Nothing less than a fresh reinstall got it to work again.

I'll keep a closer look on when (if) it stops working this time. Only sudo, thunderbird, terminator and google-chrome has been installed apart from base install (lightdm+gdm3, xfce4 & Gnome). So in my eyes a relatively clean install which should not break by itself, certainly not induced by using "systemctl suspend". Don't you agree?

btw, which package is responsible for the OSD volume pop-ups in Gnome?

Turn out it was caused by the lib "libusb-1.0-0-dev". After installing it, multimedia-controls on my keyboard broke, uninstalling the lib again restored controls.
