Unable to set up Samsung M2020W printer (SOLVED)

Postby xanadu18 » 2018-09-30 18:14

Hello,

I have a Samsung M2020W laser printer connected via USB port to my multiboot PC. Successfully installed Samsung Unified Linux printer driver (file: uld_v1.00.39_01.17.tar.gz).

In openSUSE Leap 15.0 KDE 64 bit, System Settings > hardware shows no printer. I had to add my userid to Root group before I can see the printer icon then add and configure the printer.

In Debian 9.5 KDE 64 bit, I did the following but am still not able to see the printer either in KDE connect or System Settings > Hardware > Input Devices:

Code: Select all
sudo adduser  username root

Code: Select all
system-config-printer

Code: Select all
Add (m2020w printer)

In Debian 9.5, I also went to localhost:631 in Chromium browser and set up the printer. However, KDE connect still does not show it.

Any suggestions? Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello,

I just added a printer icon to my Firefox browser and was able to print, even though System Settings > hardware still has NO printer icon. On the other hand, openSUSE Leap 15.0 now has the printer icon. Weird!

Please mark thread as SOLVED. Thank you!
