Black Screen after install Nvidia Driver (.run file)

#1 Post by Krevni »

Hi

I just installed Debian (Stable) with KDE, all good... working fine.

But I realiced that my laptop wasn't using the Nvidia driver (was using the Intel HD video card), so I proceed to download (from the Nvidia website) and install the .run file.

I had to install gcc ... make ... linux-headers to my kernel ... etc, no problem.

The issue start when I reboot the laptop, its all black... no cursor, no GUI, nothing (Grub was just fine)

Already tried with: startx
The ouput was kind off: "Nvidia Fatal Error, No screens found"

If I delete (actually move) the *.conf files (mv /etc/X11/*.conf /etc/X11/BAK/) kind of "fix" the problem, in this case I can see the mouse but KDE said something like: "plasma is unable to start as it could not currently use opengl2"
But still, I cant login because sddm its not there :)

What can I do?
Some help here please?

What log/output do u guys need to see?

My laptop: Lenovo T540p
Nvidia: Nvidia GeForce GT 730M

Thanks ... Best regards!

PS: Im sorry for my english, its not my primary language
