I installed Debian 9 on a new desktop with Intel Core i7-8700k, integrated graphics, and ASUS Prime B360m-A LGA 1151 MB, but have been unable to get the graphics resolution needed for my monitor (1680x1050). I installed the firmware packages mentioned at
https://wiki.debian.org/AtiHowTo#Drivers, to no avail. I also tried the measure that has worked for other users, namely editing /etc/default/grub to include the line
Code: Select all
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i915.alpha_support=1"
, but that didn't help either. I also tried the ppa approaches mentioned at
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2377324, but after many key errors, and attempts to install packages to resolve those errors, I read a post that indicated this approach is best suited for Ubuntu, not Debian, so I abandoned that effort. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
