i915 error on boot

Postby oren.a » 2019-08-28 11:15

Hi,
Fresh installation of debian 10 with default settings, Gnome, HDD encryption, and efi boot mode.
Sometimes, on boot, before I type the encryption key, I get the following eroor "[i915] CPU pipe A FIFO underrun", then the monitor shows strange behavior and goes black.
Most of the time I manage to put in the key and boot the system, once the GUI is loaded it is working fine.
I have searched and found several solutions, (like creating a new file "20-intel.conf" with specific settings) but with no success.

Dell Latitude 5490.
Intel Graphics 620.
i7 8650U.
Debian 10 Kernel 4.19.0-5-amd64.

Help will be appreciated.

That Intel chipset and GPU really need firmware-misc-nonfree to work correctly, and you should also consider installing intel-microcode to address known security flaws in the processor.

Are these installed on your system?
