CPU pipe A FIFO underrun *ERROR* i915 + crazy display action

Postby akrueger » 2020-02-27 17:42

* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun *ERROR* [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler]
* crazy display action, flickering, blinking, hard to read anything.
* beforehand mouse movable but clicking doesn't do anything, for ~3 minutes
* happens only every few weeks

found the same suggestion in many places, e.g. here:
* viewtopic.php?f=5&t=135777&hilit=CPU+pipe+A+FIFO+underrun&start=15#p666943
* BUT then the X login always fails and I am thrown back to the login screen.
* So I removed the 20-intel.conf again.

Still looking for a solution.

Any idea how to prevent that happening again?
