No video after monitor change

#1 Post by robert6107 »

I first installed Buster on 1/29/20. Initially I had no video (with an RX480 GPU) but installed the firmware-amd-graphics package in rescue mode. At that time I was using an HD monitor and set the display in Buster accordingly, to 1920x1080.
I then switched to a 4HD monitor, the LG24UD58-B. Windows, Ubuntu, and Fedora were satisfied with it, but the display was blank in Debian. (There's some bleed-through, so I think the monitor is getting a signal.) No login screen appears.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix this? I imagine that returning to the other monitor would solve it, but I don't consider this a desirable solution.

What do you see in Xorg.0.log (It is usually in /var/log/)?
