[SOLVED] Bluetooth not working on surface pro 3

Trying to help a friend get bluetooth working on their surface pro 3.

lspci doesn't show any bluetooth adapter.

lsusb shows "marvell", but no mention of bluetooth. I'm assuming that's the single chip for both wifi and bluetooth?

The wifi works but it's garbage, the connection drops after a minute or so, assuming related to this:

The single usb port is now occupied by a wifi dongle, which works perfectly, so unfortunately there is no room for a bluetooth dongle also.

I would like to try and at least get the bluetooth part of the chip working, but if the verdict is the entire chip is garbage then it sounds like a usb hub + bluetooth dongle might be the only option.

Perhaps some firmware is missing? What packages should I try to install?

I don't know anything about the surface pro, but I would install bluetooth, blueman, bluez, bluez-tools, bluez-firmware, firmware-misc-nonfree, and depending on the hardware in it, perhaps firmware-realtek. For the wireless, I would consider firmware-atheros and firmware-iwlwifi, depending on what hardware is present. Even if some of the firmware isn't needed, it doesn't hurt to have it, IME.

Why not just post the actual command output? It is both easier for you and less confusing for us. Remember to use code tags when posting terminal output, it greatly aids readability.

For anyone reading this, there was no issue, the user had miscommunicated the problem to me. Apologies for wasting anyone's time here.
