Abruptly lost sound

I cannot find setting that made sound crash, so unfortunately I am getting ready to reinstall system, and yes after everything is set up I will back up system partition.
Before somebody starts posting about that, yes I have installed in a partitioned disk, but I might just re-install without partitions, since all my data is in a 2 GB external HDD.
If any suggestions arrive after this post, I will implement them, since this is not imminent, I am preparing very carefully, and I have another computer with sound.

Sorry head, There can be no question of new kernel since loss of sound happened before any dist-upgrade, it happened after I plugged headphone in the external speaker output.Regarding the command you are missing, please repost and I will gladly use pastebin.

Why, do you even care about repos, no dist-upgrade was made before loss of sound.

Never did mess around, I only install from the netinst CD, by the way it is not booting now.
It boots in an HP pavilion laptop, which also has EFI. so there must be something in the Toshiba firmware preventing boot.
Will check if possible to update firmware from Linux, last time I had to send laptop to Toshiba and they returned it with Windows installed.
But this is a matter for a different thread.
