problem with my soundcard (SOLVED)

#1 Post by lrsanches »

Hello, guys!!

When playing music with volume above 50% the right speaker starts doing weird sounds, distortion I believe.
I've done my search, debian sound page, arch wiki, forums, nothing worked that's why I'm here.
And it's not a hardware problem, on my headset happens the same thing.
If someone have any suggestions please, HELP ME!!
Thanks.

This does not exclude a possibility of hardware problem - in fact, it looks like an effect of damaged HW.

Most probable HW-related reasons:
- damaged audio output socket: some models/types are directly switching the audio channels between internal speakers and external headphones, and they are often causing problems, distortions included.
- damaged coupling capacitor on the sound chip output.
- damaged output amplifier in the sound chip.

You can try to boot some other live OS from an USB stick and compare the results.

IF it is a hardware problem, you can buy & plug in a USB soundcard adapter.

What was the specific hardware problem and the solution?
Typo perfectionish.
