[wifi] how to set my DWL-G650+ up on my Debian?

#1 Post by YuLin »

Hi there,

well, everything is in the topic. I'd like to get a kind of how-to in order to have my D-Link PCMCIA card working.

Should be possible, shouldn't it?

Thanks a lot ;)
Life would be so much easier if we could have a look at the source code...

German howto: http://forum.dlink.de/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21882 for setting it up with ndiswrapper: http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/

Seems it also works with this here: http://acx100.sourceforge.net/ which of course is a better solution than ndiswrapper (means, this is a native driver).

Thanks a lot :)

I'm very surprised and fantasticly glad to have so quick an answer

I'll have a closer look at the links you provided me with. Once again, thank you very much ;)

Yep! Well, actually, I am from France (Bordeaux, ever heard of that town and its so-called famous wine?) and I've moved to Switzerland for studies.

See you :)

well, the driver itself works but doesn't support WEP for acx111 chips, yet. the DWL-G650+ has one of those which renders the driver somehow useless (except for using kismet & co maybe). back to ndiswrapper.

Just use some vpn. They are actually secure unlike WEP :)

(Of course you have a problem with doing so when using a hardware-ap/router and no linux computer as router ;))
