[solved] usb configuration problem

Postby eklavya » 2011-02-10 18:07

Hi, I just installed debian on one of my friend's laptop. Everything seems to work except usb drives.
Whenever a usb drive is inserted it shows this error message

I get the same error message with newly installed debian 6 on a workstation that had ubuntu on it before. The USB hard drive has its /dev/sdb1 partition formatted ext2, and I can mount it manually as root. Any quick fixes people think of?

Ahh, well since I installed it off of USB the fstab is misconfigured. Edited this out and it's fixed.

Hey

Sorry for re up this topic, i though is important to say what happens to me.

I got the same problem, but the solution here was already in fstab file, so, i discovered that the disk format type was different: ext4, but the error message equal.

I changed the udf parameter to ext4 and works!
/dev/sdb1 /media/cdrom0 ext4,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

I know isn't a amazing discovery, but is a little different issue.
