Help installing ATI Catalyst Drivers on Squeeze

Postby uhsarp » 2011-06-13 23:39

Hello,
I'm trying to install the ATI Catalyst drivers for my ATI Raedon 6xxx graphic card. I was able to successfully install it previously a month ago on the same computer on a previous build but I don't remember what I did to get it to work on my new install.

I'm using Squeeze 64-bit.

Code: Select all
Verifying archive integrity... All good.

Have you checked if all the necessary packages are installed? I am a first time AMD/ATI costumer and I was used to nVidia's products but this did the trick for me: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=62517&start=15

Building packages from the .run file never work on anything but Butnut.
Just run the thing without switches to install directly after making sure you got the required packages installed (dkms, build-essential, the kernel headers...)

Thanks for the replies guys. I did try to run it instead of building from sh and it did work. I just don't understand why it didn't work before when I tried it. Anyway, I'll probably run into this issue again when if I ever do a fresh install. Thanks guys!!
