I was getting the following message during boot:
- Code: Select all
kernel: [ 3.205709] Error: Driver 'pcspkr' is already registered, aborting...
FYI, during my hardware build, I plugged a small "beeper-type" speaker into the "System Warning Speaker" header on my mobo...it was a spare that was sitting around.
In addition, my "beeper" was not working after the boot.....and I'm in the small camp of folks that like the "beeper."
Anyway, I read something about this error occuring because of a conflict between the "snd-pcsp" and the "pcspkr" modules.
Here is my "workaround":
First, I blacklisted "snd-pcsp" in "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf". That got rid of the error message, but my "beeper" was still not working.
So, I inserted the following lines into "/etc/rc.local":
- Code: Select all
modprobe -r pcspkr
modprobe pcspkr
Voila, I've got the beeper back, with no error messages.
I don't have my speakers hooked up yet, nor have I loaded ALSA, so I'm wondering whether I'm going to miss "snd-pcsp".
Thoughts?
