library packaging question

Postby jspilon » 2006-08-29 15:44

Hello,

I am trying to create packages from sources for libpcap compiled with the libpfring library. This compiles no problem. When I am packaging though... there are the issues coming up ;)

# fakeroot debian/rules clean
# debian/rules build
# debian/rules binary
till now it's ok

i have 2 .debs which contains only the documentation...

so edited debian/rules and uncommented dh_install ;)

after another complete run, still nothing else than the docs in the packages...

# ls debian/
changelog compat control copyright dirs docs libpcap-ring1.dirs libpcap-ring1.install libpcap-ring-dev.dirs libpcap-ring-dev.install rules

so...

# fakeroot debian/rules clean
# debian/rules build
# fakeroot debian/rules install

# ls debian/
changelog control dirs libpcap-ring1 libpcap-ring1.install libpcap-ring-dev.dirs rules
compat copyright docs libpcap-ring1.dirs libpcap-ring-dev libpcap-ring-dev.install tmp

3 new folders... tmp libpcap-ring1 libpcap-ring-dev

libpcap-ring1 libpcap-ring-dev --> contains only empty folder structure

# ls debian/libpcap-ring1/ -AR
debian/libpcap-ring1/:
usr

debian/libpcap-ring1/usr:
local

debian/libpcap-ring1/usr/local:
lib

debian/libpcap-ring1/usr/local/lib:

# ls debian/libpcap-ring-dev/ -AR
debian/libpcap-ring-dev/:
usr

debian/libpcap-ring-dev/usr:
local

debian/libpcap-ring-dev/usr/local:
include lib

debian/libpcap-ring-dev/usr/local/include:

debian/libpcap-ring-dev/usr/local/lib:

tmp contains folder structures + expected files...

# ls debian/tmp/ -AR
debian/tmp/:
usr

debian/tmp/usr:
local

debian/tmp/usr/local:
include lib share

debian/tmp/usr/local/include:
pcap-bpf.h pcap.h pcap-namedb.h

debian/tmp/usr/local/lib:
libpcap.a

debian/tmp/usr/local/share:
man

debian/tmp/usr/local/share/man:
man3

debian/tmp/usr/local/share/man/man3:
pcap.3

i guess debian/binary is looking in those 2 directories since it wants to create 2 packages

am i right? does it make sense? hehe

how can i fix this ?
