Monitoring file downloads on apache

Postby SillyMary » 2006-09-30 19:07

Hi,

I own a couple of websites on my webserver on which I offer some files for downloading (manuals etc). I was wondering if somebody knows a way in which I can monitor how often these files are downloaded. I know apache has logfiles in /var/log/apache/, but these logs are divided over different files. So counting is becoming a little bit difficult.

Does anybody have a smart idea on how to make a script (Perl or PHP) that can keep track of these downloads? Or maybe somebody knows some sort of statistics-script like you normally monitor your webstatistics with?

Thanx!
