Boot from USB DVD+/-RW Drive?

#1 Post by Rydel »

I want to install Debian on my old-ish Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop that only has a CD-ROM drive. Is there any way to set the BIOS to boot from a USB DVD drive? Maybe writing a command on a floppy, and setting the BIOS to boot from that?

You could get a better answer from Dell.

The reason I am suggesting that is that laptops are very "picky" computers.

They might suggest you a BIOS upgrade to reckon your USB DVD drive.
