Vote for Lenny's new slogan

#1 Post by Arthur Archnix »

The Debian Art Team has a poll up asking for your vote on Lenny's slogan.

The fact that Lenny is the binoculars explains some of the entries. Swing by and vote for your favorite.

I think The Universal Operating System pretty much says it all though. Got my vote!

"Good looks, no vision"
"Ubuntu, I am your father"
"Better late than never"
"It works, b*#%?es"

..just kidding :D

I went for The Universal Operating System too, the other ones felt a bit amateurish, (or maybe because i think i have seen that one before)

I was at a tie between "The Universal Operating System" and "When code matters more than commercials", and I ended up choosing the latter.

It seemed to me like there was one suggestion with class "The Universal Operating System," and a bunch of axes to grind and political statements. I think the axes and politics should be saved for admin and development. Allow the product to be itself.

Anthem of the Confederacy in the War of Northern Aggression. Now considered politically incorrect.

Only thing I could think of reminiscent of binoculars.

I actually like the song. It doesn't matter that it was the anthem of the idiots.

Right, binoculars, War of Northern Aggression. Got it.

P.S. You mean when Confederate forces from Texas sacked Albuquerque and Santa Fe and occupied N.M. until the 1st New Mexican Volunteers stepped in for the over extended Union forces and defended their Union state in a bloody and indecisive engagement dubbed the Gettysburg of the West?

And yes, is a great song. Much of U.S. culture is Southern culture.

The problem I have with "the universal operating system" is that it belongs to Debian. Debian, is the universal operating system. The challenge is to find a slogan for Lenny.

But apparently I think differently than most people about this, because last time I checked that was the entry that was winning.

Art team: Hey, let's come up with a slogan for the new McDonalds' Hamburger, the killer. It's four pattys and four slices of cheese deepfried.

Debian users: I'm lovin' it.

Art team: I'm loving' it wins. That's the slogan for our new burger. And umm.. franchise.

Does McDonalds have a slogan for every product they sell?

And Debian technically only has one product anyway so one slogan should do it.

Pah. Bunch of drunk Texans got lost in the mountains and wound up somewhere around Glorieta where we found them and soundly kicked their ass in the direction they wanted to go anyway. That was a NM/Texas thing, unrelated to the Civil War in any meaningful way. NM wasn't even a State for another 50 years.

Some nice slogans:

"First at Gettysburg!" "Kit Carson's Own,"

from heros of the Civil War, The 1st New Mexico Volunteer Infantry. Here is a nice shot under the 34-star Stars and Stripes I believe, not to be confused with the Southern Cross. :)

Debian is an international distro, let's not discuss about petty American issues...
