The Iceweasel web browser don't work anymore.

#1 Post by khelben1979 »

Since I upgraded to Lenny a few months ago, the IceWeasel web browser didn't work any more and I still have the same problem. This is related to my install of Lenny on my old Powerbook G3.

The web browser is installed, but starting the application just doesn't work.

Anyone here who knows anything about this and have any clues on how I would be able to fix this?

I'm using IceApe and the Konqueror web browser at the present. I also tried installing an rpm package of Opera, but this browser didn't want to launch either, unfortunately (I grabbed it directly from the suse ftp server).

What are the messages if run on a terminal?
Try deleting the .mozilla folder in /home/[username]. Months ago, I did a custom Lenny installation and the browser didn't start because the profile had been created with administrator privileges. Deleting it solved the problem.

I've just installed Opera (opera 9.63.2474.gcc4qt3) and it is running.
If you want to try, remove the version you've installed and include this repository on your sources list:
deb http://deb.opera.com/opera/ testing non-free

Run apt-get update and when finish this message will be shown:

Code: Select all

W: GPG error: http://deb.opera.com testing Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 033431536A423791
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
Still on terminal, copy and paste this code and hit enter:

Code: Select all

gpg --keyserver hkp://wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net --recv-keys 033431536A423791
Then, this one:

Code: Select all

gpg --armor --export 033431536A423791 | apt-key add -
Run apt-get update and it is ready to install Opera.
