Speeding up OpenOffice

#1 Post by AdrianTM »

Just found this in a different forum and wanted to share it with you:

If you install oooqs (for kde) or ooqstart-gnome (for gnome) - OpenOffice will load MUCH MUCH faster.

You can use kpackage/synaptic or "apt-get install oooqs" to install the package. You have to run the program "oooqs" after you install it.

Forgot to say that you have to install from "unstable".

apt-get install oooqs -t unstable

you also have to have the unstable sources in /etc/apt/sources.list

You'll also want to tweak the memory settings. GO into

Tools -- Options -- Memory

Set the graphic cache to 32MB and the Memory per Object to 2MB.

Makes it start and run faster overall.
