Can access some servers thrue Debian-server

Postby Bjorne » 2006-05-17 14:46

I got a small thing thats causing a BIG problem.

I use Debian (31r1a net install) on a server. This server is DIRECTLY connected to the Internet, no router or what so ever.

Via the Debian-server, another computer is connected to the Internet, with Windows installed.

And, the problem is.

When I try to access or (and a couple of others sites) it wont work. I can't even ping, but I can resolve the adress to the ip. This is both on the Debian- and Windows-computer. Other sites, ex. as this one ( works great to visit.

When I do a traceroute to on of the sites I can't visit I get this:
Code: Select all
traceroute to (, 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
 1 (  0.702 ms  0.532 ms  0.522 ms
 2 (  0.566 ms  0.600 ms  0.553 ms
 3 (  0.642 ms  0.654 ms  0.664 ms
 4 (  0.798 ms  0.706 ms  0.678 ms
 5 (  1.207 ms  1.158 ms  1.123 ms
 6 (  2.161 ms  2.071 ms  2.153 ms
 7 (  2.370 ms  2.371 ms  2.342 ms
 8 (  1.867 ms  1.800 ms  1.789 ms
 9  * * *
10  * * *

If I connect the windows-computer directly to the internet (not via the debian-box as it is now) it works to connect to with any problems.

I haven't installed anything specielle on the debian-box, there is a irc-server, web-server and a FTPD.

If I go via a proxy, it works to enter the pages with out any problem.

Some on has an idea why the debian-server do this? What can be wrong?

Thanks in advance =)

Can you show us the contents of /etc/resolv.conf? Maybe your DNS server is messed up.

It's not the DNS-server. I can easily resolve the adress to it's IP, as you see in the traceroute. I can't enter the webpages when I use the IP either.
