I've tried many distro's over the years (and still mess around with many), but just installed Debian Lenny recently (had Ubuntu installed on my work laptop, but I've just changed over to Debian), then a couple of days after installing Debian the forums went down. I already had a few things fixed (iwlwifi-3945ABG) from the forums. So, being quite new I was still sad to see them go down...but they are back again :) Thanks

I'm glad the forums are back online and that we have a fresh layout.

Personally, I don't mind that the post content is on the left side. To me, the post content being on the left side catches my eye faster and allows for easier reading (due to my monitor being off to my right I'm focused more towards the left side of my screen).

Once again, glad the forums are back and thanks to all those involved for making this possible.

Like most here, once I discovered that the forums were down, I promptly proceeded to assume the fetal position and rocking while hiding under my desk!  Once I got past that, I advanced to the frantically withdrawal type behavior of seaching for any and all evidence of the return of the forum ...hoping it would only be moments. Finally I arrived at the finding a hard drive I could use to install a fresh copy of debian to keep me busy and my mind off the tragady....

I am so happy to see the forums up, and wish to express my heart felt gratitude to all involved in it's repair. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!! :D :D :D

Great to be back! This forum is important. And it's looking even better than before.

Once you figure out what exactly happened, we'd be glad to hear about it.

Go Debian!

It is a great relieve that the forum returned, however, as I said earlier, something must be done to allow all those who do not enjoy a good eyesight, to be able to comfortably use the forum. The colour scheme used, is made of the shades of the same colour, and this is not helping in demarching clearly the different parts of the forum. Moreover, the chosen colour is almost white greatly increasing eye stress and fatigue. Note that a white background and any shade appromixating white, is far from ideal as a background.

Please provide an alternative.
Thanks.

Like everyone, I would like to express my most sincere thanks to all those involved in restoring the fora. Like the great majority, it was quite a shock for me when I read that the fora could be gone forever. However, that would not have been enough for me to quit using Debian. I know that without help Debian might pose some challenges, but these are very minimal to what ealier users used to endure.

Please take my earlier criticism with a pinch of salt because, sometimes, especially when I am overtired, my eyesight and probably my visual processing, are simply, terrible.

Anyone can choose the best for hes eyes, see my signature
for details.

The use of more styles by default here gives more unnecessary job to the admins.
For each single style change the have to do it 2 times.
From an admin point of view i would not recommend it.

Here is the link to your style chooser,

and here is an example on using mods here without asking from the admins
to mess with the code

I have a hypothesis as to how an admin password got compromised. :) I suspect that an admin or moderator having access to an administrative password and user name, may have been using Windows to do his/her administrative job. A keylogger could have easily stolen the password passing it to the attacker.

I just wanted to thank the fine folks who put their time and effort in to getting these forums back up and running. I think they are an important part of the community and its glad to see them in a full recovery (unlike bsdforums.org :( ).

Great job on getting the Debian Users Forums back up so quickly. Your Prosilver default phpBB theme is just fine. :)
