starting NFS common utilities: statd failed! :(

#1 Post by Vandtekor »

Hi All,

I did a fresh install of Debian 5.02 from Disk 1 only, then proceeded to install/configure ndiswrapper for my Belkin F5D8001v2 wireless card. All that worked fine, but as far as I remember, it was after that that I started getting this error at boot-time:

Code: Select all

starting NFS common utilities: statd failed!
I of course Googled the error, but all I could find were people having difficulty in using NFS, as opposed to simply having trouble booting.

Not sure whether they're related, but I also get:

Code: Select all

ALERT: exim paniclog /var/log/exim4/paniclog has non-zero size, mail system possibly broken failed!
My system boots fine, only when the kernel gets to that stage, it takes an awefully long time, then when it fails, it tries again another few lines down.

My Boot log:

Code: Select all

Well, whatever it was, it seems to have resolved itself. Statd now starts just fine.
