mvsas - Marvel 88SE6480

#1 Post by benjiro »

Anybody got there Marvel based SAS/SATA controller working with Debian 2.6.26?

I'm using a AOC-SASLP-MV8, with SAS/SATA support. During bootup, the controllers bios shows up, and shows the 8 connected hd's being detected. But, it seems that the kernel does not load the hd's into the system. Looks like the nvsas drivers is needed, but possibly the 88SE6480 is not detected?

Controller: Marvel 88SE6480
Expected driver: mvsas

Code: Select all

# lsmod | grep mvsas
mvsas 23952 0
libsas 48520 1 mvsas
scsi_transport_sas 37504 2 mvsas,libsas
scsi_mod 160888 8 sg,sr_mod,mvsas,libsas,scsi_transport_sas,usb_storage,sd_mod,libata
Offical drivers for red hat, etc...

Hi,

I am ongoing to build (I am Electronic Engineer and Programmer) a Debian
Server using a Marvel MV78200 a port-multiplier on the eSATA port and two
88SE6480 or 88RC8180 to attach up to 16 SAS/SATA drives.

Do you had success to get it running?

Note: I hate Web-Forums (because they are non-reliable, non-produtive
and I can not access it from the console) so please contact me
over the mailinglist <debian-arm> (Marvel MV78200 with Debian)
or directly linux4michelle@tamay-dogan.net

Greetings
Michelle
