Re: Emerald and emerald themes ?
Thanks, but I get the following error when trying to compile :
Code: Select all
checking for EMERALD... configure: error: Package requirements ( xrender >= 0.8.4 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.8.0 libwnck-1.0 libdecoration pangocairo) were not met:
No package 'libwnck-1.0' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables EMERALD_CFLAGS
and EMERALD_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Don't run ./configure - Use dpkg!

It builds/installs fine here on Sid/64 bit.

Re: Emerald and emerald themes ?
Ok, did the following :
Download from here :
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/852410/emerald_0.8.4.tar.gz
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/852410/themes.tar.gz
( see post http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php? ... 58#p309868 )
No package libglitz1-dev to be found, so I did as suggested
After that building succeeded ! Generated packages : emerald_0.8.4-1~bb_amd64.deb libemeraldengine0_0.8.4-1~bb_amd64.deb libemeraldengine-dev_0.8.4-1~bb_amd64.deb
But how to install the themes from themes.tar.gz ?

Re: [Solved]Emerald and emerald themes ?
Wow, thanks so much for this thread, I was just thinking about emerald. It's a shame about shame and it's ashame that it isn't in the repositories. This works well and I did it in 386 and 64.
Thanks for the Debianized source bugsbunny!
Hopefully, we'll package future versions or the jasper project will mature soon enough.

Now it's apt-gettable for Sid.
Code: Select all

Re: [Solved]Emerald and emerald themes ?
I thought of trying emerald from those "beryl" old days.
http://releases.compiz-fusion.org/components/emerald/
tried rebuilding a ubuntu source from a ppa and it failed. so, the emerald(latest source) is debianized and it built the debian package successfully. not much to mess with and default debian/rules worked fine.
another thing needed is emerald-themes(.deb) which can be had from linuxmint repository.
http://packages.linuxmint.com/pool/main ... ld-themes/
EDIT: and for those who don't want to have the additional trouble like I did, they may try "Gnu STOW" imo. just get build depends for the emerald source and compile it and keep it in stow directory and symlinked to /usr/local/bin for eg. I tried this and works great. but, wanted a ".deb" so gone the extra mile building the packages.
Here is a excellent documentation of Stow. the how-to is intelligible to even novice users. :

Thanks.
